About Us

The Las Vegas Valley Bicycle Club was founded in 1989 by a handful of cyclists who simply enjoyed riding together.

The group now includes more than 300 individual and businesses members in the Las Vegas Valley. Our goals include hosting and leading recreational rides and events for riders of all ages and abilities, along with educating LVVBC members and the general public about safe bicycling. We promote interest in bicycling for recreation, transportation and fitness by maintaining relationships with bicycle dealers and other organization that promote bicycling.

The LVVBC sponsors a variety of activities ranging from weekly road rides for all abilities and bike types. Road, touring, tandem, recumbent, mountain or city bikes -- ride your ride, but ride it with us. We have special events for members throughout the year, such as our St. Patrick's Day Poker Run, a Ride to the Grand Canyon North Rim in July, rides in Death Valley during winter and road rides in Kyle and Lee canyons in summer.

We also have a rockin' annual banquet with prizes for people who rode rides, led rides or commuted to work, in addition to some prizes for those whose freewheeling accomplishments were more infamous than famous.

The club co-sponsors the annual Las Vegas Century Bikefest the third weekend of October. Its members also volunteer and offer expertise annually to such events as the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure, The Nevada Senior Games, the Las Vegas Triathlon and the Tour de Summerlin.

Club members receive a monthly newsletter (via e-mail) and discounts at local bike shops. Monthly membership meetings feature a guest speaker and a raffle drawing. Information in the monthly newsletter includes the ride schedule, opportunities to advertise bicycle or other bicycling-related items for sale and feature articles.

Whether you are on a ride, at a get-together afterward, a ride planning committee, a monthly meeting or one of our annual picnics or dinners, you will meet people who share your interest in cycling and having fun. You also will help cyclists' voices be heard by our community leaders as they plan for roads and other quality-of-life issues facing fast-growing Southern Nevada.

Our modest annual dues coverall this cool stuff. And with the real discounts club members receive from local supporting bicycle shops, a membership more than pays for itself.
